Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Accurately verify and prepare prescriptions for dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, receive and organize pharmaceutical supplies, and ensure proper storage conditions.
- Patient Assistance: Assist patients with medication inquiries, insurance copays, and understanding their prescriptions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and state pharmacy laws to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- Quality Control: Perform routine quality assurance checks on medication labels and packaging to prevent errors.
- Compounding: Assist in the preparation of sterile and non-sterile compound medications when required.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED; graduation from an accredited pharmacy technician program is preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proficiency in pharmacy software systems (e.g., Rx30, Star Systems) and strong mathematical skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift boxes up to 25 lbs.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
