Responsibilities
- Prepare and Package Medications: Accurately dispense prescription drugs and other pharmaceutical products to patients, ensuring proper labeling and packaging.
- Verify Prescriptions: Review prescription orders for accuracy, dosage, and potential drug interactions in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Assist Pharmacists: Support the supervising pharmacist in various duties, including inventory management, record keeping, and answering patient inquiries.
- Manage Inventory: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and organize the pharmacy storage areas to ensure efficiency.
- Patient Assistance: Provide excellent customer service to patients by explaining medication usage, side effects, and insurance processes.
- Quality Control: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to strict sanitation and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current and valid certification as a Pharmacy Technician (ExCPT or PTCB preferred).
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is a plus.
- Experience: Prior experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is highly desirable.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to perform precise calculations and follow detailed instructions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient confidentiality.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with pharmacy management software and basic computer operations.
- License: Valid state pharmacy technician license in Florida.
