Responsibilities
- Assist Surgeons: Provide comprehensive assistance to surgeons during procedures, anticipating their needs for instruments and supplies.
- Prepare Operating Rooms: Set up operating rooms with all necessary surgical equipment and instruments prior to procedures.
- Maintain Sterility: Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques to prevent infection and maintain a sterile field.
- Patient Care: Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes in condition to the nursing staff immediately.
- Instrument Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure nothing is left behind.
- Cleanliness: Assist in cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment after use.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain patient records and surgical logs as required by hospital policy.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification required.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well under pressure.
