Responsibilities
- Dispense Medications: Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications to patients following doctor's orders and safety protocols.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage drug inventory, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely replenishment.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients and insurance companies to verify information, answer questions, and resolve any issues regarding prescriptions.
- Medication Verification: Double-check all prescriptions for accuracy, including dosage, drug interactions, and patient allergies.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and pharmacy logs in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current Texas Pharmacy Technician license (CPhT) is required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, drug interactions, and dosage forms.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to perform repetitive tasks with high accuracy and a strong focus on patient safety.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with pharmacy management software (e.g., McKesson, Cerner, Epic) is a plus.
