Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Accurately verify and process prescription orders under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
- Medication Preparation: Prepare and package medications, including compounding and labeling, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage incoming shipments, and maintain an organized pharmacy storage area.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with patients to answer questions regarding medications and provide instruction on usage.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all transactions comply with federal and state laws, including HIPAA regulations.
- Administrative Duties: Handle insurance verifications, billing inquiries, and maintain accurate patient records.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program preferred.
- Certification: Current registration or certification as a Pharmacy Technician (e.g., ExCPT, PTCE, or CPhT) is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency with pharmacy management software and computer systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) is highly desirable.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately with patients and staff.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to focus on details to prevent medication errors and ensure accuracy.
