Responsibilities
- Dispense Medications: Accurately prepare and package prescription medications for patients under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Customer Service: Greet patients, answer phone inquiries, and provide excellent service regarding prescription refills and medication questions.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage incoming shipments, and ensure the pharmacy maintains an organized and efficient inventory.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient records, prescription logs, and update the pharmacy management system (PMS) with new orders.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal laws, including HIPAA regulations and DEA guidelines.
- Assist Pharmacists: Support the pharmacy team in clinical tasks, compounding, and medication therapy management.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician Certification (e.g., ExCPT, CPhT) or eligible to obtain certification.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Math Skills: Strong aptitude for basic arithmetic and math to calculate dosages accurately.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and computer operations.
