Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgery, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for use.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and sterile supplies, anticipating their needs.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure security and prevent retained items.
- Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout the surgical procedure.
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and positioning them safely.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately in medical records.
- Order and restock surgical supplies and linens as needed.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with surgical experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited surgical technology program preferred.
- Strong understanding of sterile technique, surgical procedures, and anatomy.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and the ability to stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
