Responsibilities
- Dispense Medications: Accurately fill prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring all dosages and instructions are correct.
- Patient Interaction: Provide exceptional customer service by answering patient inquiries, reviewing insurance benefits, and offering medication counseling.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage pharmaceutical inventory, and place orders to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Quality Control: Verify patient identification and prescription authenticity while adhering to strict HIPAA compliance standards.
- Compounding: Prepare sterile and non-sterile compound prescriptions with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy logs.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or ExCPT) is required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is highly desirable.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to focus on detail while multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients, pharmacists, and medical staff.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using computer systems, pharmacy management software, and barcode scanners.
