Responsibilities
- Dispense Medications: Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications to patients and healthcare professionals following strict state and federal regulations.
- Patient Interaction: Provide exceptional customer service by answering patient inquiries, offering medication counseling, and resolving prescription issues.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, verify expiration dates, and restock pharmacy supplies to ensure seamless operations.
- Quality Assurance: Perform regular quality control checks on medication orders and documentation to maintain compliance with HIPAA and safety standards.
- Insurance Verification: Process insurance claims and verify patient coverage information to facilitate smooth transactions.
- Assist Pharmacists: Support the pharmacy team by retrieving records, preparing medication for review, and managing the call center queue.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or eligible to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with pharmacy management software and computer systems.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to maintain accuracy and adhere to safety protocols in a fast-paced environment.
