Responsibilities
- Prepare and package prescription medications according to strict safety protocols and physician orders.
- Verify prescription information for accuracy and completeness before dispensing.
- Manage inventory levels, including receiving, stocking, and ordering pharmaceutical supplies.
- Assist customers with medication inquiries and provide accurate drug utilization reviews.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant workspace in adherence to FDA and state regulations.
- Process insurance claims and manage reimbursement paperwork efficiently.
- Counsel patients on proper medication usage and potential side effects under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Qualifications
- Current Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- High School Diploma or GED; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, drug interactions, and dosage calculations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately with patients and staff.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management software (e.g., Rx30, Cerner, McKesson) is highly desirable.
