Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with minimal discomfort.
- Verify patient identities and accurately label and process specimens to ensure CLIA and OSHA compliance.
- Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures, alleviate anxiety, and ensure a positive experience.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile phlebotomy station; sanitize equipment regularly.
- Accurately enter patient data and test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and report any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new staff members when needed.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Phlebotomy Technologist (PBT) credential required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in specimen handling and labeling.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Valid NJ Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
