Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures, capillary draws, and arterial punctures with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
- Greet patients, explain procedures, and ensure a positive and calming experience throughout the collection process.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label, log, and process blood samples according to strict laboratory standards.
- Maintain strict adherence to OSHA safety regulations and infection control protocols at all times.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure timely specimen delivery and accurate patient charting.
- Assist with the maintenance of inventory for phlebotomy supplies and ensure the cleanliness of workstations.
Qualifications
- Current and valid certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or completion of an accredited phlebotomy program.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to de-escalate patient anxiety effectively.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs when assisting patients.
