Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on adults, pediatrics, and geriatric patients with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety guidelines (OSHA, HIPAA).
- Maintain accurate, legible, and timely documentation of all blood collection procedures in the EMR system.
- Sort, label, and transport specimens to the laboratory department promptly to ensure test validity.
- Greet patients with empathy, explaining procedures clearly to reduce anxiety and build trust.
- Assist with inventory management for blood collection supplies and notify management when stock is low.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Certified Phlebotomy Assistant (CPA) certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital, clinic, or laboratory setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure and handle high-volume patient volume efficiently.
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license and reliable transportation (optional for office-based roles, required for mobile units).
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
