Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Ensure proper patient identification, labeling, and specimen handling to maintain chain of custody.
- Greet patients, explain procedures, and alleviate anxiety to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to strict infection control and sterilization standards.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to coordinate patient care and sample transport.
- Manage electronic health records accurately and maintain strict patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Current New Jersey State Phlebotomy license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Previous experience in a clinical or laboratory setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, specifically circulatory and lymphatic systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
