Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages, ensuring strict adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Accurately label, process, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory for analysis.
- Interact with patients in a calm and professional manner, explaining procedures to reduce anxiety and ensure compliance.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the phlebotomy station, including restocking supplies and sterilizing equipment.
- Update patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with inventory management for lab supplies and perform basic quality control checks on equipment.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP, NCPT, or equivalent) is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Previous experience in a clinical or outpatient setting is a plus but not mandatory for immediate hires.
