Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection following strict aseptic protocols
- Process and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing
- Maintain sterile equipment and verify patient identification prior to procedures
- Document patient information and test requisitions in EMR systems
- Provide patient education on blood draw procedures and post-care instructions
- Collaborate with nursing staff and lab personnel to ensure seamless workflow
- Adhere to OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA compliance standards
Qualifications
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification from recognized provider
- Proficiency in blood collection techniques for diverse patient populations
- Strong attention to detail and specimen handling skills
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
