Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures following HIPAA and OSHA protocols
- Process, label, and transport specimens to laboratory with meticulous attention to detail
- Verify patient identity and prepare specimens for testing while maintaining specimen integrity
- Utilize LIS systems for specimen tracking and documentation
- Provide exceptional patient care with empathy during blood draw procedures
- Maintain sterile work environments and quality control standards
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure timely specimen processing
Qualifications
- Current Hawaii Phlebotomy Technician certification (HTC or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital or lab setting
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or Red Cross
- Proficiency in electronic health records and laboratory information systems
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to calm anxious patients
- Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and HIPAA compliance requirements
- High school diploma or GED with focus on science coursework
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
