Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with minimal discomfort.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label all specimens to ensure chain of custody.
- Explain procedures to patients to ensure comfort and cooperation during the collection process.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Process and transport biological specimens to the laboratory promptly.
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and report shortages to the supervisor.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff to optimize patient care.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent required.
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred, but strong candidates with internships are encouraged to apply.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered attitude.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs when necessary.
