Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections across all patient age groups
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory with strict chain-of-custody protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health systems
- Verify patient identification and ensure proper specimen labeling
- Operate and maintain phlebotomy equipment per safety standards
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation procedures
- Collaborate with nursing staff to optimize patient flow and comfort
Qualifications
- Current Tennessee Phlebotomy Technician certification (or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification from recognized provider
- Proficiency in specimen handling and processing protocols
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume settings
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including weekends
