Responsibilities
- Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits eligibility
- Assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for services rendered
- Resolve claim denials and billing discrepancies through appeals
- Maintain accurate patient accounts and financial records
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure documentation compliance
- Stay updated on healthcare regulations and payer policies
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Medisoft)
- Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient data
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred
