Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections following strict safety protocols
- Process and label specimens accurately while maintaining chain of custody documentation
- Provide patient education and comfort during blood draw procedures
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure timely specimen processing
- Adhere to HIPAA compliance and infection control standards
- Assist in inventory management of phlebotomy supplies
Qualifications
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or equivalent
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques for diverse patient populations
- Strong attention to detail and specimen handling accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Electronic health record (EHR) system experience preferred
