Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages with a focus on accuracy and patient comfort.
- Verify patient identity and ensure all pre-draw requirements, such as fasting and consent forms, are met.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and infection control standards at all times.
- Properly label, process, and store blood specimens to ensure chain of custody integrity.
- Assist with patient intake, answering questions regarding the draw process, and maintaining a clean work environment.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff to resolve any issues regarding specimen quality or patient concerns.
Qualifications
- Active Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent licensure.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited phlebotomy program is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent clinical experience in a high-volume medical setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs when necessary.
