Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Verify patient identity and prepare specimens for accurate laboratory testing
- Maintain strict adherence to OSHA, HIPAA, and CLIA compliance standards
- Operate and calibrate phlebotomy equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Document patient information and specimen details in electronic health records
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure timely sample processing
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation and post-procedure care
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, AMT, or NHA)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in venipuncture, capillary puncture, and pediatric techniques
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory protocols
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to calm anxious patients
- Valid CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
- Proficient in EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
