Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with a high level of accuracy and patient comfort.
- Verify patient identity and prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to strict protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and ready for use.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and laboratory staff to resolve any specimen or collection issues.
- Handle sensitive patient information with the highest level of confidentiality and compliance.
- Participate in ongoing training and quality assurance programs to stay updated on best practices.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (e.g., ASCP, ASPT, or NHA) or equivalent experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Previous experience in a clinical or high-volume laboratory setting is highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to calm anxious patients during procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
