Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Verify patient identities and accurately prepare requisition forms and labels for laboratory tests.
- Process and transport blood samples to the laboratory promptly to maintain integrity.
- Maintain a clean, sterile, and organized phlebotomy workspace in compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Manage inventory of blood collection supplies and notify management of shortages or equipment malfunctions.
- Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety and answer questions regarding procedures.
- Collaborate with nurses and medical staff to streamline clinic operations and patient flow.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology is highly desirable.
- CPR and BLS certification is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
