Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures on patients of all ages with precision, patience, and care.
- Accurately label, process, and store blood samples according to established laboratory standards and HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, infection control procedures, and OSHA guidelines.
- Interact professionally with patients to explain procedures, answer questions, and alleviate any anxiety during the collection process.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the phlebotomy station and laboratory equipment.
- Verify patient identification and ensure proper chain of custody for all specimens.
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) or equivalent licensure required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity.
- Previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred but not always required for top candidates.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if required for travel to satellite locations).
- Ability to lift and move equipment as needed and stand for extended periods.
