Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
- Verify patient identification and accurately label specimens according to lab protocols.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and safety standards (OSHA, CLIA).
- Greet patients warmly, explain procedures, and answer questions to alleviate anxiety.
- Process and log blood samples into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) accurately.
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and notify supervisors of shortages.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure timely specimen delivery.
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Certification (e.g., ASCP, CPT) required.
- Valid Minnesota State Phlebotomy License.
- CPR/BLS Certification (American Heart Association).
- Previous experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanor.
