Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen collection following strict protocols
- Ensure accurate patient identification and proper specimen labeling
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory with chain-of-custody integrity
- Maintain sterile equipment and infection control standards
- Document procedures in EMR systems with precision
- Provide patient education and comfort during blood collection
- Collaborate with clinical staff for efficient workflow
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in phlebotomy
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and OSHA standards
- Exceptional venipuncture skills with diverse patient populations
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to work independently with flexible scheduling
- Valid New York State phlebotomy license
