Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages using proper aseptic technique.
- Greet patients warmly, explain procedures, and ensure comfort and understanding throughout the collection process.
- Label, log, and accurately document all collected specimens according to laboratory protocols.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and safety standards (OSHA regulations).
- Manage inventory of supplies and ensure phlebotomy equipment is clean and functional.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff to ensure seamless patient care.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Phlebotomy certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Science preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience preferred but not required for high-performing candidates.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient comfort.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
