Responsibilities
- Accurate Blood Collection: Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Patient Communication: Greet patients warmly, explain procedures clearly, and ensure a positive experience during the collection process.
- Specimen Management: Properly label, process, and transport blood samples to the laboratory for testing.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to OSHA safety guidelines and infection control protocols to maintain a sterile environment.
- Record Maintenance: Accurately document patient information and collection data into the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
- Equipment Care: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of phlebotomy equipment.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with nurses and medical staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Experience: No prior phlebotomy experience required. We are willing to train the right candidates.
- Certification: Phlebotomy certification (ASCP, NHA, or equivalent) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Skills: Basic computer literacy and understanding of medical terminology is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Interpersonal: Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner.
