Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collections following OSHA and CLIA standards
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory with proper documentation
- Maintain sterile, organized workstations and equipment calibration
- Provide exceptional patient care during high-volume specimen collection
- Utilize LIS/EHR systems for accurate specimen tracking and order entry
- Collaborate with nursing staff and laboratory personnel on patient care protocols
- Implement infection control procedures and safety protocols
- Train new staff on phlebotomy techniques and departmental workflows
Qualifications
- Current Hawaii Phlebotomy Technician certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience preferred
- Excellent venipuncture skills with minimal blood draw attempts
- Proficiency in specimen handling and processing procedures
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments
- Valid CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems (Epic preferred)
