Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Process, label, and transport specimens to laboratory while maintaining chain of custody
- Verify patient identity and maintain accurate electronic health records
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols for biohazardous materials handling
- Collaborate with nursing staff to optimize patient flow and collection efficiency
- Train new staff on phlebotomy techniques and equipment operation
Qualifications
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Excellent venipuncture skills with low-miss rate
- Ability to multitask in fast-paced emergency department setting
- Clear background check and negative TB test
