Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws with precision and patient comfort in mind.
- Verify patient identities and accurately prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols.
- Greet patients warmly, explain procedures, and minimize anxiety during the collection process.
- Process and label specimens according to laboratory standards promptly.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure accurate patient history and medication reconciliation.
- Manage inventory of supplies and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification (ASCP, NHA, etc.) required.
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Valid NJ driver's license and reliable transportation are a plus.
