Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages, including infants and geriatric patients.
- Ensure accurate specimen labeling, handling, and processing according to strict laboratory safety protocols.
- Interact professionally and compassionately with patients to minimize anxiety and ensure a positive experience.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work environment, including phlebotomy chairs and equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff to facilitate timely and accurate test results.
- Verify patient identification and medical information prior to specimen collection.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Phlebotomy Assistant (PA) certification required.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous clinical experience preferred; new graduates with strong externships are encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, infection control, and OSHA safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and electronic health record systems.
