Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and functioning correctly.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sterile materials in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain the sterile field and adhere to strict aseptic techniques to prevent infections.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Prepare patients for surgery by positioning them properly and preparing incision sites.
- Handle specimens accurately and assist with wound closure and dressing application.
- Document patient information and surgical counts accurately in electronic health records.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential required.
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, procedures, and sterile technique.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and assist with patient lifting.
