Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Verify patient identities and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and HIPAA regulations.
- Label, process, and transport blood specimens accurately to the laboratory for analysis.
- Maintain a clean and sterile work environment, including proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to facilitate efficient patient flow in the clinic.
- Document all procedures and patient reactions in electronic health records (EHR) accurately.
Qualifications
- Current, active Phlebotomy Technician Certification (e.g., ASCP, NHA, or equivalent) required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
