Responsibilities
- Draw Blood: Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Patient Care: Interact professionally and empathetically with patients to ensure a positive experience, explaining procedures clearly.
- Specimen Handling: Label, sort, and process blood specimens accurately according to laboratory protocols to ensure integrity for testing.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSHA and CLIA safety regulations regarding infection control, waste disposal, and sharps safety.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient history and test results.
- Inventory: Monitor and restock supplies in the phlebotomy area to ensure operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must possess current, valid Phlebotomy certification (e.g., ASPT, ASCP, NHA) and a Nevada State Phlebotomy License.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program is mandatory.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
