Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision, patience, and minimal discomfort.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and safety procedures, including OSHA guidelines.
- Verify patient information and accurately label specimens for laboratory processing.
- Manage patient records and ensure the Electronic Health Record (EHR) is updated correctly.
- Assist with patient intake, vitals monitoring, and preparing patients for procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff to ensure seamless patient flow.
- Handle incoming and outgoing specimens with proper handling and transportation protocols.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in medical assisting or nursing preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity.
- Proven ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
