Responsibilities

  • Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages, including infants and geriatric patients, with a focus on minimizing patient discomfort.
  • Verify patient identification and ensure proper labeling and accessioning of specimens to prevent errors.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile work environment, adhering to all OSHA and CLIA regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and alleviate anxiety.
  • Log patient data accurately into the laboratory information system (LIS).
  • Assist with inventory management of supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other laboratory staff to ensure timely test results.

Qualifications

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required (e.g., ASPT, ASCP, NHA).
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience preferred; new graduates with externship experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
