Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws safely and accurately using standard medical protocols.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the collection process, explaining procedures clearly.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control standards, OSHA guidelines, and HIPAA regulations.
- Label and process specimens efficiently, ensuring all documentation is complete and error-free.
- Operate medical equipment such as centrifuges, tourniquets, and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely delivery of test results.
- Manage inventory of supplies and maintain a clean, organized workstation.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of a phlebotomy course is a plus but not mandatory if you are willing to train.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all backgrounds.
- Basic computer literacy and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift equipment as necessary.
