Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Verify patient identity and medical information accurately before sample collection.
- Label, log, and prepare blood specimens for laboratory analysis according to strict protocols.
- Maintain a clean and sterile environment, including equipment sanitization and organization of the phlebotomy station.
- Assist with patient intake, vitals monitoring, and providing clear instructions for preparation before procedures.
- Handle sensitive patient interactions with empathy, professionalism, and patience.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and infection control standards.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or completion of an accredited Phlebotomy training program.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional phlebotomy experience preferred, but new graduates with externship experience will be considered.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as necessary (up to 50 lbs).
- Reliable transportation for local travel, if required.
