Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary, and specialized blood collection procedures following strict protocols
- Process, label, and transport specimens to laboratory with meticulous attention to detail
- Maintain sterile environments and infection control standards at all times
- Verify patient identity and explain procedures to ensure comfort and cooperation
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Document all procedures accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with nursing and lab teams to resolve specimen collection issues
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in venipuncture and specimen handling
- CPR certification required
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and OSHA regulations
- Exceptional interpersonal skills for diverse patient interactions
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced medical environments
- High school diploma or equivalent with science coursework
- Proficiency in medical terminology and data entry systems
