Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages with precision and a patient-centric approach.
- Ensure all blood specimens are accurately labeled, processed, and transported to the lab following strict chain-of-custody protocols.
- Verify patient identity and explain procedures to alleviate patient anxiety.
- Maintain a sterile, clean, and organized work environment, adhering to all OSHA and HIPAA safety standards.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure timely specimen collection and patient care.
- Manage inventory of supplies and restock phlebotomy trays as needed.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Medical Assistant (MA) with phlebotomy focus.
- Valid California State Phlebotomy License.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to handle high-pressure situations with empathy.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
