Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws with precision, ensuring patient comfort and minimizing discomfort.
- Verify patient identity and accurately prepare and label specimens for laboratory analysis in accordance with HIPAA and CLIA regulations.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and sterile techniques at all times.
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures clearly to alleviate anxiety and build rapport.
- Manage inventory of supplies, ensuring phlebotomy stations are fully stocked and equipment is sanitized.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to facilitate efficient patient flow and care coordination.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification (ASPT, NHA, NCCT) required.
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited phlebotomy program preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a clinical setting preferred, but new graduates with excellent clinical skills are encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy and venipuncture techniques.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and empathy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
