Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
- Greet patients, explain procedures, and ensure a positive and reassuring experience.
- Label, process, and accurately document all blood specimens and specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety regulations.
- Prepare and organize work areas, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and functional.
- Communicate effectively with nursing and laboratory staff regarding patient status and test results.
- Manage patient records and electronic health records (EHR) accurately and confidentially.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation (optional, but common).
