Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws with precision, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, safety standards, and OSHA regulations.
- Effectively communicate with patients to alleviate anxiety and explain procedures clearly.
- Manage inventory of blood collection supplies and ensure the phlebotomy station is fully stocked.
- Log patient data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with blood drives and mobile phlebotomy services as required.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent is required.
- Current and valid California State Phlebotomy License.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience preferred; new graduates with strong externship experience are encouraged to apply.
- Strong attention to detail and fine motor skills.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations professionally.
- Reliable transportation to the Oakland location.
