Responsibilities
- Perform Venipunctures: Accurately draw blood samples from patients using aseptic techniques and standard safety protocols.
- Patient Interaction: Ensure patient comfort and provide clear instructions during the blood draw process.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory for analysis.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain stock of supplies, including test tubes, bandages, and needles.
- Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and laboratory safety standards.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient information and test results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Qualifications
- Certification: Must hold a valid Phlebotomy Technician certification (e.g., ASCP, CPT) and a current state license.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical setting preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Skills: Proficient in venipuncture techniques, IV starts, and micro-collection.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient education.
- Reliability: Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
