Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with precision and patient comfort
- Process specimens accurately while maintaining chain of custody protocols
- Verify patient identity and prepare samples for laboratory analysis
- Maintain sterile equipment and adhere to OSHA safety standards
- Document procedures and update electronic health records efficiently
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation procedures
- Collaborate with lab staff to ensure timely sample processing
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NHA, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in venipuncture
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Nevada state phlebotomy license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Excellent communication skills for diverse patient interactions
- Proficiency in LIS systems and EMR documentation
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced clinical environments
- Strong attention to detail and infection control knowledge
