Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specialized blood collection procedures
- Process and label specimens accurately with strict adherence to HIPAA protocols
- Maintain sterile environments and calibrated equipment per OSHA standards
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation and post-procedure care
- Utilize LIS systems for specimen tracking and result documentation
- Collaborate with medical staff to optimize patient flow and efficiency
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in venipuncture
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Proficiency with electronic health records and specimen tracking systems
- Exceptional communication skills for diverse patient populations
- Ability to work flexible shifts including early mornings and weekends
- Attention to detail with proven accuracy in specimen handling
