Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment & Monitoring: Conduct thorough initial and ongoing assessments of patients' health status and monitor vital signs continuously throughout the night shift.
- Medication Administration: Safely administer prescribed medications and treatments according to established protocols and hospital policies.
- Collaborative Care: Communicate effectively with physicians, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Crisis Management: Respond swiftly and effectively to medical emergencies, utilizing critical thinking and quick decision-making skills.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR) documenting patient care, changes in condition, and outcomes.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medication side effects, and post-discharge care instructions.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required; PALS preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of acute care hospital experience preferred; strong night shift experience is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with electronic medical record systems (EMR/EHR).
- Professionalism: Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
